Lies! All Lies!
I am fascinated by photography for a variety of reasons, some of which are:
1. its ability to let you examine a single moment indefinitely.
2. the ramifications this "freezing of time" has on how we perceive that particular moment.
3. its veneer of straightforward documentary, fact, or truth, when really it is impossible to obtain a photograph free of the influence of the photographer. That is, the subject of a photograph is prey to an artist's aesthetic at every step of the photograph's creation; so while we think of photographs as little bits of reality, they are just as fictional as any other art form.
