Octagonal Star Window
Also built during the summer of 2002, this leaded glass piece won second place at the New Mexico State Fair. Hooray! The design draws from my obsession with octagonal stars; namely, I like the way their symmetry changes depending on how you view them. The dimensions of the window are approximately 2 x 2.5 ft.

This is beautiful!
But I see hexagonal stars.
Wowza. That's gorgeous.

Hmmm. Well, I think the hexagonal star you're seeing, all in clear glass, is actually the intersection of the two octagonal stars (in dark blue and green). I thought the hexagonal star was kind of a cool consequence of superimposing the two octagrams so I left it colorless to emphasize its shape.
I've thought about doing a series of these where I used the same pattern, but different colorings to bring different shapes out, but that'll have to wait until I once again have the space and tools to make leaded glass.
